The boys in prefab 4 kept a 'Coronavrius Diary' for one week. Besides doing work for their teacher the boys are baking, on their bikes, running ect. It is great to see the boys developing new skills and spending time with their families.

Saint Patrick's Day

Art

The children were introduced to 'finger painting' - using your fingers and paint. The boys had great fun creating 'Rainbow pot of Gold' for Saint Patrick's Day. This linked with Geography where it was a memory aid for the children. "Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain" shares the same initial letters ("ROYGBIV") as the colours of the rainbow:

Red

Orange

Yellow

Green

Blue

Indigo

Violet

These colours can be seen in the art pieces the children created which are displayed on the classrom doors.

English writing

'At the End of the Rainbow' writing activity showcased excellent listening skills, great handwriting and great presentaion on paper. It was very nice to see that if the boys found a pot of gold, loads of them would be very generous- givng some to charity, nurses, homeless, friends ect.

World Book Day Activities

We had DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) time at 12 everyday. Every day after reading, 3 or 4 lollipop sticks were picked and these children had to say 3 points about what they read. Luckily, all children were safe and ensured to their teacher that they were reading!

The boys also got the opportunity to attend the book fair. Loads of books were bought - the children will have a great time reading.

Great fun was had on World Book Day!!!! Boys dressed up as characters from different books. Also the class designed a new cover for their favourite book.

Procedural Writing- pancakes

Yes, the pancakes were YUMMY. Then the children created procedural writing pieces based on what happened with the pancakes. Taking into account our key words:

First

Then

Next

Finally.

A sample of excellent handwriting, drawing and colouring....

Lava Lamps!

1582670587.jpg

Collecting bottles was exciting for the children because the teacher would not tell them what they were for.....creating mystery!

Each child created a lava lamp with water, oil, food colouring and alka-seltzer tablets. With the help of 2 TY students the children created them in groups. They were so excited in doing so and couldn't wait to bring them home!

Before Christmas we learned all about Spain in Geography! The children were given the task of creating a 'Spain Project'. The project could be created in any way they wanted. Have a look below at the excellent, creative projects currently hanging up in the classroom.
